Personal Device Policy:

Per the District-wide policy (JICJ) on personal devices, all personal devices and device accessories must be powered off and put away, without access, for the duration of the school day (8:10 am - 3:25 pm).  Violations of this policy will be enforced per the student handbook and will result in disciplinary action.  Personal devices include, but are not limited to, cell phones, ipads, non-school issued computers, or any device with the ability to provide communication through wi-fi, mobile data, or other means.  Device accessories are any wired or wireless accessories that can connect to a personal device.

AI Policy:

In our world, the digital landscape is continually evolving.  Artificial Intelligence (AI) is becoming an increasingly common tool used by students.  AI can be used effectively and appropriately to support learning by assisting in proofreading, generating ideas, and assisting in understanding complex topics.  However, AI should not replace a student's individual intellectual effort in class.  Inappropriate use of AI in a classroom setting occurs when a student uses AI to generate work for a course and claims it as their own intellectual capital.  Inappropriate use of AI for class assignments, homework, quizzes, tests, or projects will be considered cheating and plagiarism and will be handled accordingly.

e-Learning Days:

In case of inclement weather or other situations that prevent us from having class in person, we will have e-Learning Days.  If this happens, all my assignments for the day will be posted in Google Classroom by 8 am.  An email will be sent to both students and parents/guardians with instructions.  Students without WiFi or students who have not completed work for the assigned day(s), will have up to 5 days after returning to school to submit their assignments before the student will be marked absent for the day.

Teacher-Parent Communication:

A weekly newsletter will be emailed every Sunday.  This newsletter will give you information regarding the week’s lessons and any important upcoming events.  If you need to contact me, the best way to reach me is by email at [email protected].  We can schedule meetings to meet in person or by phone to discuss any issues concerning your child.  You are also welcome to call the school and leave a message in my voicemail at 864-582-3479 ext. 5122.
